Role Overview

As a Hub Engineer Apprentice, you will be trained in the maintenance, repair and servicing of industrial cleaning machines. This is an opportunity to develop hands-on mechanical and electrical engineering skills while working towards a recognized apprenticeship qualification.

Working alongside experienced engineers, you will learn how to diagnose faults, carry out repairs and ensure our fleet of industrial cleaning machines operates at peak efficiency. You will become skilled in not only fault finding on smaller industrial cleaning equipment but also trained to refurbish machines to set company quality standards and within defined timelines. Our Hub Engineer Apprentices will ensure that each repaired/refurbished machine is delivered to customer sites after full quality assurance sign off, including extensive and successful run checks.

 

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
  • Assist in servicing, repairing and maintaining a range of industrial cleaning machines
  • Learn to diagnose electrical and mechanical faults on industrial cleaning machines.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure our internal database (SSP) is updated in real time.
  • Follow health & safety procedures to maintain a safe working environment
  • Participate in on-the-job training and attend college as part of the apprenticeship programme
  • Assist with Hub organisation and stock management.
  • Ensure all preparation/repair/refurbishment jobs are completed to set quality standards and to defined criteria per machine ‘job family’ and to time.
  • Test machines in line with company guidelines before delivery to customer to ensure quality criteria has been achieved.
  • Refurbish machines to set quality standards and guidelines including cosmetic repairs and valeting.
  • Perform fault diagnostics on smaller machines and process all machines requiring repair to more senior engineers in the hubs for completion.
  • Fully prepare, inspect and valet all small equipment (not requiring repair) ready for dispatch to customers and in line with quality standards.
  • Ensure that all machines and ancillaries are PA tested and correctly labelled before delivery to customer.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • A strong interest in mechanical and electrical engineering
  • A willingness to learn and develop technical skills
  • Good problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
  • Basic understanding of tools and mechanical components (preferred but not essential)
  • A team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship
